JOSH AMBERGER
About Josh
At 26 years old, professional triathlete and coffee connoisseur, Josh Amberger, spends his days putting everything he has into getting faster and closer to that World #1 rank. Josh lives in his hometown of Brisbane, Australia but races all over the world – from Asia, to Europe and the USA. His career highlights include 5 time Ironman 70.3 Triathlon Champion, a 7th place finish in the 2012 Ironman 70.3 World Championships, and self-titled best and most dynamic coffee brewer in his household. His girlfriend, Ashleigh Gentle, might have something to say about that though. When he’s not training or racing, Josh gets a charge out of brewing & sourcing coffee, collecting records, and taking his Land Rover Defender off the beaten track.
What gets you stoked?
Professionally speaking, my adventures are about heading overseas to race; being away from home and chasing my dreams. It excites me to train and race in new locations, or return to old favorites such as a training camp in Bend, OR or the Escape from Alcatraz race in San Francisco. Off-season camping adventures with my girlfriend, Ash, each year excites me; namely the breaking from the daily routine. Waking up smelling and hearing the ocean, drinking beer and coffee on the hammock as well as exploring the natural worlds of Australia.
What does “genuine” mean to you?
Genuine to me means something that’s not forced or faked. It means having the passion and motivation to dedicate life and time towards a craft, for the pleasure of oneself and to share with others.
Keep up with Josh
