April Vokey
About April
Before most kids were able to learn how to ride a bike without training wheels, April Vokey was exploring British Columbia’s wildest rivers. When most kids were awkwardly discovering boys at the mall, April was a regular at the local tackle shop. When most kids were looking for escape via a driver’s license, April found her solitude by way of salmon and steelhead migrations, which is also where she found her passion. By the age of 24, April founded Fly Gal Ventures, a company that encourages men, women, and children (from beginners to seasoned professionals) to discover the art of fly-fishing through guided trips and workshops around the world. She uses her voice as an active conservationist, sits on the board of directors for the Steelhead Society of BC, and is the founder of the popular fundraiser Flies for Fins. A Federation of Fly Fishers certified casting instructor, fly-tying instructor, active conservationist, traveling speaker, podcaster, TV personality and eternal student of life and love — April is currently working on her first book.
