Austin Smith
About Austin
When other kids were graduating high school, Austin Smith was traveling the world as a professional snowboarder. He bypassed the contest scene and jumped right into the coveted role of snowboard film star. In 2007, his first year filming with a major production company, he earned the closing segment in Mack Dawg's We're People Too and won both Rookie of The Year and Video Part of The Year honors from TransWorld SNOWboarding. Since then, the 30-year-old has kept the snowboarding world inspired and entertained through cover-gracing photos, sarcasm laced interviews, award winning film parts, magazine co-editing stints, iconic events and a brand supporting clean water. More recently Austin has co-founded Season eqpt. a new ski and snowboard hardwood brand promoting and supporting longevity in the outdoor industry. He is also actively involved in and passionate about supporting Protect Our Winters.
What gets you stoked?
Snowboarding. I can't overstate it enough. As I get older the body aches more and life gets more complicated but snowboarding remains as this anchor of joy, excitement and passion.
What does “genuine” mean to you?
First thing I think of is genuine "leather." But outside of baseballs and other sports equipment for me being genuine coexists with making a decision without hesitation or second guessing. I probably overthink things but authenticity, quality and intent are all wrapped up with something or someone being genuine and Thump has embraced this.
Keep up with Austin
